Destini Duran ~ Emerging Designer, Santa Fe Community College
A variety of prints, prints of all shapes and colors, prints that flow through the wind, designs that bring fabric to life. Think out of the box, out of the ordinary, a sense of edge; an abstract beauty. Destini loves to use prints and out of the ordinary designs. She express her love of art through her creations that takes clothes to a modern edge of sophistication. She stands by her motto “Where fabrics come to life!” and creates every design, bring it to life, for the woman wearing it.
Destini was born in the small town of Espanola, NM where she currently resides. Her design inspirations come from the influence of modern abstract art. She graduated from Pojoaque Valley High School in 2011 and went straight on to college to pursue a degree in Biological science from the University of New Mexico. After a year she decided that was not what she fully loved. She joined the fashion design program at Santa Fe Community College and won Best Fashion at the 2013 Santa Fe Community College show for one of her designs. She will be graduating with an AAA in Fashion Design Spring 2014 and is currently completing her 2014 spring collection of edgy dresses to launch at New Mexico Fashion Week in May.
Destini completed the first half of her internship with designer Orlando Dugi at his studio in Santa Fe, NM and is finishing her internship assisting with preparations for New Mexico Fashion Week at the Albuquerque Apparel Center alongside founder and Executive Director, Melissa Lea Beasley.
